Senior User Experience Designer: 2010 to present

  • Lead all platform interface design and user flow improvements, working tightly with developers to prototype and build the product that saves enterprises millions of dollars each year by eliminating the need for redundant technology and data fees.

Optaros

is a Boston-based tech-savvy consulting practice focused on commerce, community and content solutions.

Senior User Experience Designer: 2008 to 2010

  • Led the design and solidified the information architecture of OView, Optaros’ media publishing and asset management web application. OView’s most active client is Experian, the largest ad inventory buyer on the web. Experian is now using that product to control their assets on Yahoo, MSN, FOX Business and other heavily trafficked properties.
  • Played a key role in formalizing the User Experience practice; creating a flexible, repeatable process with lightweight documentation for all UX consultants.
  • Designed and built more than fifty proof-of-concept demos to illustrate and expand the company’s core competencies, and land new business.
  • Creative lead for redesigning the corporate website using Wordpress 3 for easier content management, improved browser performance, visitor tracking, and accessibility.

Monster

is the leader in online job opportunities and global recruitment resources.

Senior User Experience Designer: 2006 to 2008

  • Succeeded in redesigning the Job Seeker interface with simpler interactions, fewer steps for account creation, and improved formatting of job search results. My efforts resulted in less abandonment during the sign up process, and allowed Seekers to quickly and effectively tailor their results to their individual needs. I continued to evolve the Job Search based on the customization data captured, turning frequently used options into default settings.
  • Utilized our regularly scheduled user testing sessions to clean up or introduce simplified functionality into the Seeker platform every three months, improving browser performance, and significantly reducing job seeker complaints with Monster’s customer service representatives.
  • Won the 2006 Webby People's Choice Award for the redesigned Career Advice micro site.
  • Worked tightly with multiple Project Managers, creating user flows, web design, developing and iteratively testing functionality.

CellExchange

was a Cambridge-based systems management and consulting firm.

Senior User Interface Designer & Developer: 2005 to 2006

  • Designed and built a logistics and personnel management web application for the United States Air Force. This experience sharpened my understanding of accessibility and is how I became an advocate for the then-emerging web standards movement.
  • The cross-browser and mobile application requirements of the project coupled with rapid development cycles made using web standards the logical choice.

Metabomber Design

is a Boston area Web, Print and Branding shop.

Founder & Principal: 2001 to Present

  • Designed and built dozens of websites and proof of concept demos.
  • Freelance brand, web and print designer for Boston-area public relations, marketing and design agencies.

Request Development

was a Boston-based medical IT consulting firm.

Design Lead: 2002

  • Designed and built the front end for a secure web application to track patient medical records and enable efficient communication between patients and their doctors.
  • Designed and built several websites for local hospitals, rehabilitation centers and community centers.

TimeØ

was a B2BEC focused technology group, and a wholly owned subsidiary of Perot Systems Corporation.

Designer: 1997 to 2001

  • Designed the public and admin interfaces for several successful banking B2BEC web applications.
  • Lead designer for all marketing efforts, including presentations, online demos, print, and conference booths.
  • Built and maintained on-site usability testing lab.
